Brewing Up Business Drink and Learn Stuff: The Business of Charity
Here we go again! The Bareknuckle team is gearing up for the Brewing Up Business Quarterly Event: Drink and Learn Stuff. This quarter, we’re talking about how your businesses pay it forward, give back to the community, and help to those in need. That’s right, it’s time to get real about the Business of Charity.
We’re pleased to invite Roy Tuscany, Sarah Carmona Zink, and Michael Tragash to lead the discussion as our panelists. Our panelists will blow the head right off your brewski once you hear their phenomenal stories and insights. We’re incredibly thankful these brilliant people agreed to chat with us.
Roy Tuscany is the founder of High Fives Non-Profit Foundation and former world record holder for the most high fives in 24 hours.
After graduating from the University of Vermont with a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Roy headed out west to pursue his dream of becoming a professional free-skier. In 2006, he suffered a life-altering spinal cord injury that left him paralyzed from the waist down.
As an adventure seeker at heart, Roy turned to the financial and community support of his own recovery into a pay-it-forward adventure with the creation of High Fives Non-Profit Foundation.
Now, with over 10 years of experience in the non-profit sector, High Fives serves over 235 individuals, including veterans and people with disabilities, helping them find the superhero within and enjoy outdoors sports again.
Roy has received the “Spirit Inspires” award from Disabled Sports and has shared his story and passion for community sports as a speaker for LuLuLemon, Idaho Boys and Girls Club, Reliant Rehab, Squaw Valley and has been featured on ESPN and in the Huffington Post.
Michael Tragash is a community advocate, connector and storyteller, who also happens to be Yelp.com’s Reno Community Director.
Mike’s mission is to tell the #storiesbehindstorefronts, connecting us with local businesses, organizations and great places to have fun in our community.
Combining synergistic partnerships, creative marketing, engaging social media campaigns, interactive events, Yelp Reno’s Local newsletter, and strong local media relationships, he’s able to shine a spotlight on the brave business owners, non-profit professionals, and event organizers who have chosen to share their passions with us.
Ask Michael, Mike, Mikey for a recommendation and you’ll not only find out where to go, but also who you’ll meet walking in and a little bit about what makes that business so special. When he’s not sharing stories one-on-one, he’s keeping us connected as a recurring contributor to Mornings On Fox 11, Alice 96.5, Edible-Reno Tahoe, and most other local media outlets. He’s been named one of the American Advertising Federation’s “Ad People of The Year,” and “Influencer of the Year” by the American Marketing Association, and recognized by state and local government for his work in spreading the good word about everything in the Biggest Little City.
