Here we go again! The Bareknuckle team is gearing up for the Brewing Up Business Quarterly Event: Drink and Learn Stuff. This quarter, we’re talking about how your businesses pay it forward. Give back to the community, and help to those in need. That’s right, it’s time to get real about the Business of Charity.

We’re pleased to invite Roy Tuscany, Sarah Carmona Zink, and Michael Tragash to lead the discussion as our panelists. Our panelists will blow the head right off your brewski. Listen to their phenomenal stories and insights. We’re incredibly thankful these brilliant people agreed to chat with us at our Brewing Up Business Quarterly Event.

 

Roy Tuscany

brewing up business renoRoy Tuscany is the founder of High Fives Non-Profit Foundation and former world record holder for the most high fives in 24 hours.

After graduating from the University of Vermont with a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Roy headed out west to pursue his dream of becoming a professional free-skier.

Then, in 2006, a life-altering spinal cord injury left him paralyzed from the waist down.

As an adventure seeker at heart, Roy turned to the financial and community support of his own recovery. He ventured into a pay-it-forward adventure with the creation of High Fives Non-Profit Foundation.

Now, with over 10 years of experience in the non-profit sector, High Fives has served over 235 individuals–including veterans and people with disabilities. High Fives Non-Profit Foundation helps them find the superhero within and enjoy outdoor sports again.

Roy was honored to earn the “Spirit Inspires” award from Disabled Sports. In the past, he’s shared his story and passion for community sports as a speaker for LuLuLemon, Idaho Boys and Girls Club, Reliant Rehab, and Squaw Valley. Plus, he’s also been featured on ESPN and in the Huffington Post.

Michael Tragash

Michael Tragash is a community advocate, connector and storyteller, who also happens to be Yelp.com’s Reno Community Director.

Mike’s mission is to tell the #storiesbehindstorefronts. He’s connecting us with local businesses, organizations and great places to have fun in our community.

Mike combined synergistic partnerships, creative marketing, engaging social media campaigns, interactive events, Yelp Reno’s Local newsletter, and strong local media relationships. With this, he shined a spotlight on brave business owners. In addition, non-profit professionals and event organizers have chosen to share their passions and are being recognized.

Ask Michael, Mike, Mikey for a recommendation and you’ll not only find out where to go, but a little bit about what makes the business so special.

When he’s not sharing stories one-on-one, he’s connected to the community. As a recurring contributor to Mornings On Fox 11, Alice 96.5, Edible-Reno Tahoe, and most other local media outlets, he loves communicating. He’s been named one of the American Advertising Federation’s “Ad People of The Year” by the American Marketing Association. And they’ve named him “Influencer of the Year” too. Woohoo! Mikey’s also been recognized by the state and local governments for his work in spreading the good word about everything in the Biggest Little City.

Sarah Carmona Zink

Sarah Carmona Zink is a highly successful Real Estate Broker and Business Owner. She takes pride in her family, friends and professional relationships.

As a Carson City native and graduate of the University of Nevada, Reno with a Bachelor of Science in Economics, Sarah share her forecasting and trends knowledge of the local market with her team. The awards she’s received can’t encompass the heart she puts in to every group, cause and effort she’s involved in. But there’s definitely a list worth recognizing.

In 2016, she received the prestigious Reno Gazette Journal/Young Professionals Network’s Twenty Under 40 Award. In 2016 and 2018, she was recognized as the leader of the #4 Latino Millennial Team in the Nation by the National Association of Hispanic Realtors. NAHREP also recognized her as a member of the top 250 Latino Agents in the Nation from 2012-2018.

Sarah serves on the Board of Directors for Reno-Tahoe Young Professional’s Network. She’s also the co-chair of the Twenty Under 40 committee. She’s currently the youngest member of the Renown Health Foundation Board of Directors too. 

Sarah is the Co-Founder of the Dreams Foundation, Inc. The foundation has donated close to $535,000 to our community’s dreams since its creation in 2012. Their main objective is to give to people who pay it forward. In the past, the foundation has partnered with Renown Health Foundation, Human Society, AIDs Foundation of Nevada, Solace Tree, CARE Chest of Sierra Nevada, and Veterans’ House. 

Sarah’s current passion project is the Renown NICU. Her son, who was born with was born with Gastroschisis, spent 28 days in the NICU after he was born. This experience changed Sarah forever. She currently holds a NICU Preemie and Newborn Pajama Drive every 2 years. At this event, they supply small pajamas and blankets that are not covered in their budget.
